Four Hodgson Russ Partners Participate in NYSBA’s Ninth Annual Tax InstituteSeptember 30, 2004 Contact: Lisa Kane TORONTO, ON. -- Three Hodgson Russ LLP attorneys, Paul R. Comeau, Alice A. Joseffer, and Mark S. Klein, joined other prominent tax practitioners and officials from across the country as faculty members for the Ninth Annual New York State and City Tax Institute, presented by the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), September 22-23, New York City. Paul R. Comeau, chair of Hodgson Russ, served as a planning co-chair for the day-and-a-half-long tax event. Mr. Comeau has practiced New York tax law since 1973. He is co-editor of New York Tax Service, co-editor of New York Tax Cases, and co-chair of the Multistate Tax Committee of the New York State Bar Association Tax Section, where he has also served as chair or co-chair of the New York Tax Matters Committee, Interstate Taxation, Sales Tax, and Tax Tribunal Subcommittee. He lectures frequently throughout the United States. Ms. Joseffer, a member of the Firm's General/International Tax and International/Cross-Border Practice Groups and lead attorney for the Tax Dispute Resolution Practice Group, lectures frequently in the United States and Canada and writes for a number of publications, including Canadian Tax Highlights. Ms. Joseffer has practiced tax law since 1983 and concentrates her practice in international and business planning matters and tax dispute resolution for individuals and businesses. She represents taxpayers in contested tax matters of all types in examination, appeals, and litigation. A member of Hodgson Russ's State & Local Tax and Tax Dispute Resolution Practice Groups, Mr. Klein has over 20 years of experience with federal, multistate, state, and local taxation. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States and Canada and teaches courses on state taxation and tax practice and procedure at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Mr. Klein has written numerous books, articles, and treatises on the subject of multistate taxation. Topics for the nationally renowned seminar, which addressed new and ongoing concerns for executives and tax attorneys, included changes in tax policies and procedures, national developments, Canadian-New York cross-border issues, and sales tax issues. The seminar was co-sponsored by the NYSBA Tax Section and Committee on Continuing Legal Education, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, the New York City Department of Finance, and the Committee on State and Local Taxation of the Bar of the City of New York.
