Hodgson Russ to present Cross-Border IP Strategies Seminar in Burlington, Ont.

TORONTO, ONT. — Hodgson Russ LLP will present a seminar entitled "Cross-Border IP Strategies," May 5, Atrium Conference Center, Burlington, Ontario. Hodgson Russ is one of the few law firms with full-time offices in Toronto exclusively practicing U.S. law.

The seminar, sponsored by Canadian organizations BitNet, Communitech, Innovators Alliance, and Toronto Venture Group, will address the latest developments in intellectual property law and the U.S. marketplace for expanding Canadian businesses. Several members of Hodgson Russ's Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group will speak at the seminar. Presentation topics include "Patents and Trade Secrets: To Disclose or Not to Disclose" (Ranjana Kadle), "Strategies for Brand Expansion Into the United States" (Kenneth D. Suzan), "Copyrights and Your Business: How to Make Sure You Own What You Think You Own" (John D. Lopinski), and "Enforcement of IP Rights in the United States" and "How to Avoid IP Litigation and What to Do if You Can't" (Daniel C. Oliverio).

Co-practice group leader Gary M. Schober will serve as moderator of the seminar. Mr. Schober concentrates his practice in electronic commerce, computer and technology law, as well as in generally counseling high-technology and other clients on a broad range of business law matters.

Ranjana Kadle practices in all areas of intellectual property with particular emphasis on patent prosecution, related opinion work in the biotechnology and chemical fields, and licensing.

John D. Lopinski concentrates his practice in patent preparation and prosecution with a special emphasis on biotechnology innovations.

Daniel C. Oliverio has served as lead trial counsel in numerous commercial cases, intellectual property cases, and white-collar criminal cases.

Kenneth D. Suzan counsels clients on all facets of trademark clearance, prosecution, infringement, licensing, domain name, and Internet and new media matters.
