January 25, 2007

Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to announce that Pierre Cournot has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

Mr. Cournot is a French-born and U.S.-trained business lawyer. He advises foreign corporations and high-net-worth individuals at every stage of their presence in the United States. Mr. Cournot's services include agency and distribution agreements, licenses of intellectual property, formation and governance of legal entities, mergers and acquisitions, real estate matters, and alternative dispute resolution. He is general counsel to the French Consulate General in New York and is consulted regularly by several French ministries and administrative agencies regarding legal problems in the United States.

Additionally, Mr. Cournot is a foreign trade advisor to the French Republic — one of approximately 100 French business leaders appointed by the French Government in the Northeast to provide advice on specific matters. He is also on the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association and a Knight in the French National Order of Merit.

With more than 230 attorneys practicing in all major areas of law, Hodgson Russ is among the 200 largest law firms headquartered in the United States. Recently, the firm tripled its roster of New York City-based attorneys to provide an even wider range of services and increased depth in important niche practice areas, including federal, multi-state, New York State, and local tax; bankruptcy and corporate reorganizations; intellectual property; estates and trusts; litigation; commercial real estate; corporate and securities; immigration; employment law and employee benefits; and health law. Established in 1817, Hodgson Russ is among the oldest law firms in the United States. Hodgson Russ has two offices in New York, New York, and offices in Albany, Buffalo, and Johnstown, New York; Boca Raton and Palm Beach, Florida; and Toronto, Ontario.
