Thomas E. Popek a Speaker at Wind Component Manufacturing Symposium

Thomas E. Popek, an attorney in Hodgson Russ LLP’s Wind Energy and Corporate & Securities Practice Groups, was a speaker recently at the Buffalo Niagara Wind Component Manufacturing Symposium. The July 15, 2009 seminar was presented by the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise to highlight regional business opportunities in the wind energy industry and provide practical business tips for companies seeking to enter it. Hodgson Russ was a sponsor of the event.

Approximately 250 attendees from nearly 100 private sector companies heard presentations from expert authorities and leading companies in the wind industry, including representatives from the Alliance for Clean Energy New York, GE Drivetrain Technologies, and Moog Industrial Group. Mr. Popek’s presentation, titled “Powering Supply Chain Success,” focused on legal considerations for companies not presently in the market who are interested in becoming part of the wind industry supply chain. His topics included technology and licensing agreements, sourcing arrangements, and other critical aspects of supplying parts or services to the wind energy sector.

Mr. Popek assists businesses with all forms of technology transactions, licenses, commercial agreements, and domestic and international sourcing for technology, operations, and core business services. He has extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including enterprise technology partnering arrangements, "everything-as-a-service" (XaaS) engagements, professional services, and complex global outsourcing arrangements (both business process outsourcing and information technology outsourcing).
