BUFFALO, N.Y. — Mary Catherine Malley, a partner in Hodgson Russ LLP's Corporate & Securities Practice Group, was acknowledged as one of Buffalo's young leaders by being named to Buffalo Business First's 13th annual 40 Under Forty list for 2004.

The 40 honorees, nominated by Business First readers and selected by an independent committee, are chosen to recognize their outstanding achievements as well as their commitment to the Western New York community. The winners are considered to be young leaders in various segments of the Buffalo Niagara business community, including law, government, health care, nonprofits, and more. Ms. Malley and the other honorees received the award at a luncheon October 26 at the Buffalo Convention Center.

The 40 Under Forty program was launched in 1992 to honor young leaders who otherwise receive little public recognition. This year, 195 people were nominated for the award.

Ms. Malley concentrates her practice in securities law, including corporate and securities law governance and compliance, public and private offerings, venture capital financings, executive compensation, and mergers and acquisitions. She is chair of the Corporation Law Committee of the Erie County Bar Association, a past member of the Buffalo Development Council of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and past president of The New Millennium Group of Western New York, Inc., a regional nonprofit corporation focusing on economic development.

With approximately 200 attorneys practicing in all major areas of law, Hodgson Russ is the 206th largest law firm headquartered in the United States, as reported by the National Law Journal. It is one of approximately 100 firms in the country listed in America's Greatest Places to Work With a Law Degree.
