TORONTO, ONT. — Hodgson Russ LLP, one of the few law firms with a full-time office in Toronto devoted exclusively to practicing U.S. law, was a sponsor of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA)'s national spring conference, held recently at the Toronto Hilton. Several Hodgson Russ attorneys lectured at the conference. Kevin M. Kearney spoke on "Privacy Regimes at Home and Abroad: How to Balance Competing Regulatory Frameworks," Anne S. Simet presented a "Primer on U.S. Employment Laws" as part of the International Employment Law section, and John J. Zak gave a presentation entitled "Beyond Good Governance — Avoiding Director Liability Through Indemnification and Insurance."
An article by Kenneth D. Suzan, another Hodgson Russ attorney, entitled "Expand Your Brand Into the U.S.," appeared in the CCCA conference program. The article was originally published in the October 1, 2004, issue of The Lawyers Weekly.
