Sponsorship one of many ways Firm supports United Way

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to announce that it is a sponsor of the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County's Emerging Leaders Society. The Emerging Leaders Society provides educational and networking opportunities for leadership donors under 45, including management seminars, board leadership training, and other workshops and events.

As part of the sponsorship, Hodgson Russ will host a Lunch With Leaders event, during which Firm President and CEO Gary M. Schober will share his insights and experience regarding leadership with up-and-coming area professionals.

In addition to supporting the United Way through the Emerging Leaders Society, Hodgson Russ annually organizes an internal drive to encourage and coordinate individual contributions from attorneys and staff members to the United Way Community Care Campaign. Last year, 63 attorneys and staff members at Hodgson Russ were leadership givers.

The Firm is also active in the annual United Way Day of Caring event, in which participants support local agencies through hands-on project assistance, entertaining youth, and other activities.

Nine Hodgson Russ attorneys and staff members are current members of the Emerging Leaders Society: Brad A. Birmingham (partner, Federal/International Tax Practice Group), John J. Christopher (partner, Labor & Employment), Carol A. Fitzsimmons (partner, Federal/International Tax), Terrence M. Gilbride (partner, Real Estate & Finance), Patrick J. Long (associate, Torts, Insurance & Products Liability), Julie Rosenberg (controller), Hugh M. Russ (partner, Torts, Insurance & Products Liability), Jeffrey W. Stone (partner, Real Estate & Finance), and John J. Zak (partner, Corporate & Securities).

The Emerging Leaders Society encourages social, educational, and civic relationships among young professionals and community leaders.  It also serves as a networking forum to encourage community awareness. It now has more than 320 members from various companies and organizations across Erie County.

With more than 220 attorneys practicing in all major areas of law, Hodgson Russ is among the 200 largest law firms headquartered in the United States. It is one of approximately 100 firms in the country listed in America's Greatest Places to Work With a Law Degree. In June 2005, Hodgson Russ received the Carol S. Knox Family-Friendly Employer Award from the Capital District Women's Bar Association. The Firm, which was established in 1817 and is among the oldest law firms in the United States, is the only law firm that can count two former U.S. presidents, Millard Fillmore and Grover Cleveland, among its alumni. Hodgson Russ has seven offices: Albany, Buffalo, and Johnstown, and two in New York, New York; Boca Raton, Florida; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
