BUFFALO, N.Y. — John A. Alessi, Esq., an associate in Hodgson Russ LLP's Real Estate & Finance Practice Group, was a featured speaker at a seminar for public supervisors and administrators entitled "Building Community Capacity: Governing the 21st Century," July 19-21, Peek'n Peak Resort and Conference Center, Findley Lake, N.Y.
Mr. Alessi's presentation, "Rightsizing Your Financing," served as a guide to different types of financing for public improvements. The program explained the pros and cons of various types of public debt instruments, as well as the role of various lenders.
Mr. Alessi carries on the tradition of the public finance practice started by his father, Richard D. Alessi, who has represented a large number of municipal issuers in the Western New York area for the past 40 years. He represents counties, cities, towns, villages, school districts, fire districts, utility districts, underwriters, and trustees on a wide range of general-obligation bond financings. Mr. Alessi has worked on complex refunding matters, tax and revenue note financings, and large capital project financings. He is also heavily involved with the planning of various school and municipal projects and works closely with various financial advisors, architects and engineers, bond insurers, verification agents, escrow agents, and other market professionals.
The seminar was part of the Public Management and Finance Program of the Environmental Finance Center in the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Founded at SU in 1924, the Maxwell School is renowned for its graduate professional education in public administration and international relations.
