BUFFALO, N.Y. — Four Hodgson Russ LLP attorneys coordinated a Firm initiative to support Kids Voting, an annual program that fosters a commitment to voting for children in grades K through 12. Students learned about the candidates and the issues in their classrooms, and on Election Day, special Kids Voting ballot boxes were set up so children could vote with their parents.
Christopher J. Milne (Corporate & Securities Practice Group), Kristy L. Berner (Corporate & Securities), Patrick J. Long (Torts, Insurance & Products Liability), and Marla Waiss (Federal/International Tax) led a group of approximately 25 volunteers from the Firm as they set up and oversaw Kids Voting tables at more than 15 polling places in the North District of Buffalo, worked with children and their families during the voting process, and collected the ballots.
"Kids Voting provides an important service to our community by teaching children about civic responsibility and the democratic process," said Gary M. Schober, president and CEO of Hodgson Russ, "and I am proud that Hodgson Russ continues to support this worthwhile organization."
For several years, Hodgson Russ attorneys and staff members have volunteered to help Kids Voting on Election Day and successfully staffed polling places of the North District. To demonstrate its continued commitment to the success of the program, the Firm compensated its staff members for the hours they spent volunteering at Kids Voting.
With more than 220 attorneys practicing in all major areas of law, Hodgson Russ is among the 200 largest law firms headquartered in the United States. It is one of approximately 100 firms in the country listed in America's Greatest Places to Work With a Law Degree. In June 2005, Hodgson Russ received the Carol S. Knox Family-Friendly Employer Award from the Capital District Women's Bar Association. The Firm, which was established in 1817 and is among the oldest law firms in the United States, is the only law firm that can count two former U.S. presidents, Millard Fillmore and Grover Cleveland, among its alumni. Hodgson Russ has offices in Albany, Buffalo, Johnstown, and New York, New York; Boca Raton, Florida; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
