BUFFALO, N.Y. — Garry M. Graber, Esq., a partner in Hodgson Russ LLP's Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Commercial Litigation Practice Group, served as the chair of the discussion panel at a recent New York State Bar Association bankruptcy continuing legal education seminar, held at the Holiday Inn Amherst.
The seminar addressed many issues related to the sweeping changes brought to the federal bankruptcy laws by the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. Attending attorneys learned from the panelists the real-world effects of the new legislation; how typical consumer debtor cases will be approached; and the added complexity and built-in added expense faced by consumer debtors, the involved attorneys and trustees, and the bankruptcy clerks and judges.
Mr. Graber has over 25 years of experience practicing bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, creditors' rights, financial services, and commercial and corporate litigation and general business law. He represents troubled business entities, their secured and unsecured creditors, and their shareholders and principals inside and outside of bankruptcy, as well as creditors' committees, equity committees, trustees, examiners, and purchasers in bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings across the United States and in cross-border matters, primarily with Canada.
With more than 220 attorneys practicing in all major areas of law, Hodgson Russ is among the 200 largest law firms headquartered in the United States. It is one of approximately 100 firms in the country listed in America's Greatest Places to Work With a Law Degree. In June 2005, Hodgson Russ received the Carol S. Knox Family-Friendly Employer Award from the Capital District Women's Bar Association. The Firm, which was established in 1817 and is among the oldest law firms in the United States, is the only law firm that can count two former U.S. presidents, Millard Fillmore and Grover Cleveland, among its alumni. Hodgson Russ has seven offices: Albany, Buffalo, and Johnstown, and two in New York, New York; Boca Raton, Florida; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
