BUFFALO, N.Y. — Hugh M. Russ, III, Esq., chair of Hodgson Russ LLP's Torts, Insurance & Products Liability Practice Group, was a panelist at a New York State Bar Association seminar entitled "Proving and Defending Damages at Trial: Effective Trial Techniques for Plaintiff's and Defendant's Counsel," May 13.
The seminar focused on the presentation and defense of damages in the trial of a personal injury case and covered all facets of the recoverable elements of damages.
During a section on the role of the economist during litigation, Mr. Russ demonstrated helpful techniques for cross-examining an expert economist hired by the plaintiff to give testimony regarding the monetary amount of damages sought. He also authored a section of the seminar materials on this topic.
An active trial lawyer, Mr. Russ concentrates his practice in business litigation; insurance coverage litigation; arson and fraud cases; complex, high-dollar personal injury actions; products liability cases; toxic torts; and employment discrimination litigation. He has represented a major insurer in one of the largest environmental insurance coverage litigations in the nation. In addition, Mr. Russ has substantial trial experience on insurance coverage cases involving arson and fraud, on personal injury cases, and in business disputes. He also has extensive experience in pro bono and civil rights work.
