BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thomas E. Popek, an attorney in Hodgson Russ LLP's Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group, was recently elected to the board of directors of Computers for Children, a nonprofit organization that increases students' access to current technology by upgrading donated computers and placing them in schools.

"Computers for Children plays such an important role in the education of many children in our community," Mr. Popek said. "I'm glad to be a part of it, and continue Hodgson Russ's tradition of supporting organizations that give so much to our community."

Mr. Popek concentrates his legal practice in counseling clients on protecting and enhancing their intellectual property assets through patents, copyrights, trademarks, and licensing.  He has extensive experience in electrical, software, and communication systems engineering.

Founded in 1997, Computers for Children is a nonprofit organization in Western New York dedicated to providing advanced learning opportunities to children. By improving the computer-to-student ratio, Computers For Children prepares students for higher education and career opportunities.
