Home > Offices > New York, NY > Articles > Tax Alert: Erie County Sales Tax Rate Increase Tax Alert: Erie County Sales Tax Rate IncreaseThe New York State Department of Taxation and Finance has announced that pursuant to action by the Erie County and New York State Legislatures, and effective January 15, 2006, the local sales tax rate in Erie County will increase to 4.75 percent from the current 4.25 percent. Combined with the State’s 4 percent sales tax, this local rate increase will bring the combined sales tax rate to 8.75 percent. This new rate will remain in effect through November 30, 2007. Registered sales tax vendors should make all preparations necessary to collect the proper tax on sales made within, or shipped to, residents in Erie County effective Sunday, January 15, 2006. |
