Firm History

Established in 1817, Hodgson Russ is one of the oldest law firms in the United States, and our attorneys and staff are proud of the firm’s rich history. Former Hodgson Russ attorneys include President Millard Fillmore, President Grover Cleveland, former Congressman and World Bank President Barber Conable, and former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Donald C. Lubick.

Since our founding, Hodgson Russ has grown to become a midsize firm of approximately 200 attorneys who provide service to clients in virtually all major areas of U.S. law, facilitating transactions in every geographic and substantive area in the regions where our seven offices are located and around the world.
