Larry Corman to present at South Palm Beach County Bar Association seminar on employee absenteeism

Boca Raton, FL – Larry Corman, a partner in Hodgson Russ LLP’s Business Litigation, Employment Litigation, and Labor & Employment Practice Groups, will be a speaker at the September 26 seminar “Legally managing employee absenteeism: How to handle the ‘sick’ and otherwise absent employee,” presented by the South Palm Beach County Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Committee. Mr. Corman will address how employers should respond to ill employees’ requests for leave in order to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act.

Anyone interested in attending the seminar, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Boca Raton Marriott at Boca Center, should contact the bar association at 561.671.3651 or email@southpalmbeachbar.org.

Mr. Corman joined Hodgson Russ in 1983, after graduating from Harvard Law School. Among other notable cases, he was lead counsel for the plaintiff as a cooperating attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the landmark federal case Shuttlesworth vs. Broward County, Florida, which established the first legal precedent in the United States that AIDS is a handicap as defined and protected by the then-existing state and federal anti-employment discrimination laws. Since then, Mr. Corman has primarily represented employers in connection with employment law and in business dispute matters. Mr. Corman is the former chair of the Broward County Chapter of the ACLU, has served as a director on the Palm Beach County Business Development Board, has acted as the chair for the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee, and is a director of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association.
