Photo Screening Tool Added to E-Verify System

On September 25, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) added a photo screening tool to its E-Verify employment eligibility verification system. This tool allows employers to verify newly hired employees' identities by comparing photos on their employment authorization document or permanent resident card with images stored in the DHS and Social Security Administration (SSA) databases. Employers using the E-Verify system have access to 425 million records in the SSA database, plus 60 million records in the DHS's immigration database.
