U.S. Immigration Services to begin Accepting Green Card Applications...

...based on First-Issued Visa Bulletin for July 2007

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has just announced that it will accept employment-based applications to adjust status for a 31 day period through August 17th, in accordance with the original July 2007 Visa Bulletin issued by the U.S. Department of State (DOS) on June 12th. Accordingly, DOS has retracted the revised July visa bulletin issued on July 2nd, which stated that the USCIS would no longer accept adjustment applications for the month of July.

Eligible cases that were filed on July 2 or later and retained by the USCIS will now be accepted, along with any new filings for priority workers (EB-1), professionals with advanced degrees and persons with exceptional ability (EB-2) and skilled workers and professionals (EB-3). The "Other workers" category remains unavailable as had been stated in the original July 2007 Visa Bulletin.

In addition, USCIS has stated that it will accept filing fees in accordance with the current fee schedule for Green Card related applications (e.g. I-485, I-765, I-131, etc.) in the affected categories, through August 17th. Fees are set to increase significantly for most filings as of July 30th.
