The CLE focused on the intersection of immigration and employment law, and Mr. Gottfried's section was called "Representing companies that hire immigrant workers." He gave an overview of the laws and regulations controlling the hiring and firing of foreign nationals and discussed how attorneys should advise corporate clients regarding H1B visas. Mr. Gottfried has 29 years of immigration law experience in the New York City area. His clients are individuals and corporations, including an international airline and numerous area hospitals. Mr. Gottfried also represents United Nations employees and the diplomatic community in U.S. immigration cases. Mr. Gottfried obtains work visas, permanent resident status, and U.S. citizenship for his clients. Mr. Gottfried has obtained permanent residence for world-famous artists, photographers, athletes, scientists, and authors based on their extraordinary ability in their chosen profession.
