New Fees for Immigration Benefit Applications and Petitions to Go Into Effect July 30, 2007

The new fee schedule will increase most fees by a third or more; in some instances, to more than seven times the current cost. Current revenues are being touted as insufficient to recover full operating costs of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), the service and benefit adjudications branch of the Department of Homeland Security. According to USCIS, the increased fees are required to ensure sufficient funding and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the immigration system.
