USCIS Update on Receipt Notice Issuance
USCIS Update on Receipt Notice Issuance
Due to the recent influx of employment-based preference petitions and adjustment of status filings (August 17, 2007 deadline cases), U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a delay in the issuance of filing receipts for certain applications, including most I-140 petitions, employment-based I-485 applications, N-400 applications, I-131 applications, and I-765 applications, among others. This data-inputting delay will not change the actual receipt date noted on I-797 Receipt Notices for the various petitions and applications once issued. USCIS has also noted that requests for premium processing will continue to be honored within 15 days for qualifying applications, consistent with existing policies and procedures.
USCIS has promised to continue to issue updates on a weekly basis. A full copy of the press release relating to this and future data-input status announcements can be found on the USCIS Web site, www.uscis.gov. Questions regarding this announcement should be directed to your Hodgson Russ immigration attorney.
