Who should attend: Investors and anyone interested in the cleantech industry
Don't miss this opportunity to talk cleantech with industry insiders and discover exciting prospects for investment or collaboration. Our keynote speaker is Aaron Mandell, co-founder of GreatPoint Ventures and chairman of WaterFX. Aaron is an entrepreneur, engineer, and operator who has co-founded and been involved in raising more than $250 million in capital from leading institutions for several energy companies, including WaterFX, Oasys, GreatPoint Ventures, Coskata, and Altarock. Through his leadership, this portfolio of companies is advancing new products in fields such as solar water treatment, desalination, enhanced geothermal energy, coal gasification, alternative chemicals, and renewable fuels. Aaron currently serves as chief commercial officer at Altarock Energy and chairman of WaterFX. Previously, Aaron served as president/CEO of Oasys Water, where he led the company from a laboratory prototype to commercial implementation of the company?s produced water treatment system. Aaron is also a co-founder of GreatPoint Ventures. He and his GreatPoint partners founded Coatue (acquired by NYSE: AMD), Sirtris (acquired by NYSE: GSK), and Zafgen. Aaron has deep roots in the energy and water industries and a technical background in environmental engineering and groundwater hydrology (B.S./M.S.) from the University of Vermont, where he focused on simulation of groundwater systems.
- BESSTECHhas developed a way to fundamentally improve lithium-ion batteries: a silicon-based anode technology that provides four times the energy capacity of carbon anodes, with charging rates as low as six minutes and a lifetime of more than 1000 charge/discharge cycles. The company's manufacturing process allows it to produce an anode ready to be integrated into batteries in less than two hours, reducing overhead and manufacturing costs when compared to current anode manufacturing, which can take 2-3 weeks. The company's technology also eliminates the use of solvents, carbon, and binders, which add cost and can sometimes be harmful to the environment.
- Bandwagon's flagship taxi-sharing consumer product allows passengers to find compatible rides in real-time--rides that let them get where they want to go affordably, without sacrificing time. By using existing infrastructure and vehicles, Bandwagon's mobile and web-based software transforms urban transit at low cost through technology. In June, Bandwagon won Ultra Light Startups' Future Energy New York pitch event.
- AgileSwitch designs, develops, and markets disruptive technology that significantly improves the performance, efficiency, and lifetime of power inverters/converters used in renewable energy generation and high-efficiency applications. The company provides critical power conversion subassemblies, gate drive boards, and complete power stacks to manufacturers of solar inverters, wind turbines, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), electric motor drives, and electric/hybrid electric vehicles (EV/HEV).
