Who should attend: Investors and anyone interested in the cleantech industry
Our keynote speaker is Clint Wilder, senior editor at Clean Edge, the world's first research and advisory firm devoted to the cleantech sector. Clint is a co-author of The Clean Tech Revolution (HarperCollins, 2007), a widely praised book that USA Today called "one of the few instances in this genre that shows the green movement not in heartstring terms, but as economically profitable." Clint has covered the high-tech and cleantech industries as a business journalist for more than two decades and is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events in the United States and overseas. He is also a blogger for the Green section of The Huffington Post, a facilitator in the energy and climate change track of the Clinton Global Initiative, and a founding member of the Clean Economy Network.
For more than a decade, Clean Edge has delivered timely data, analysis, and comprehensive insights to key industry stakeholders. Clean Edge, with offices in the San Francisco Bay area and Portland, Oregon, offers an unparalleled suite of index, benchmarking, and advisory services .
Additional presentations by:
- Globomass is a renewable energy project developer that converts crops and soft biomass into electricity using proven combined heat and power (CHP) and anaerobic digestion (AD) technologies. The company takes a fully integrated approach by bringing the project from concept through the various development phases and continues to own and operate the projects once complete. In the case of AD projects, the company's model is to work with landowners in a long-term, secure partnership. When the opportunity arises, the company purchases the land and sites for its projects. With CHP projects, Globomass works with the customer to provide a secure and reliable supply of electricity at agreed prices. The company takes a partnership approach to all its projects, and it is this approach that helps the company to be a successful owner and developer of its projects. Very often, the company's partners form part of the Globomass structure within the respective countries that the it operates by becoming equity partners.
- Havelide Systems, Inc. has developed a provocative, two-pronged proprietary method that facilitates a more efficient means of transforming natural gas (NG) into low-molecular weight, octane-like hydrocarbon liquids. This second step, often called concatenation, converts 88-89 percent by weight of the NG into low-molecular-weight liquid hydrocarbons. The remaining ~11wt percent (when expressed as hydrogen) is temporarily stored in stable form to be reused for hydrogenation or recovery as H2 gas. The final product, called "light-sweet naphtha" (HavelideTm Naphtha), is very close in chemical composition to naphtha, a mid-level refinery blend of hydrocarbons. The Havelide Process of converting NG to liquid hydrocarbons affords many advantages to the utility industry. It uses one-fifth the energy to convert NG to liquid hydrocarbons and does not emit any pollutants into the environment (unlike contemporary processes deployed by industry). It is also modular, which allows the avoidance of costly infrastructure, as well as makes accessible stranded sources of NG.
