At this event, Hodgson Russ attorney Kenneth P. Friedman participated on a panel that discussed how to apply the basic principles of accounting and financial statements in evaluating and understanding the financial and economic health of companies in today’s environment. The program also addressed the responsibilities and duties placed on lawyers and non public companies by Sarbanes-Oxley— exploring the importance of the attorney’s role as counselor, not just an advocate, for his or her business clients, as well as the application of similar corporate governance standards to nonprofit entities.
