Alan J. Laurita Joins Hodgson Russ LLP in the Firm's Buffalo Office

Alan J. Laurita has joined Hodgson Russ as a partner in the law firm’s Real Estate & Finance Practice Group. He is resident in the firm’s Buffalo office.

Mr. Laurita draws from his more than 30 years of experience as an attorney and former business executive in the oil and gas industry to assist oil and gas companies in the full range of their legal needs. His experience includes representing oil and gas companies in matters involving commercial real estate, contract preparation and negotiation, title work, securities, regulatory compliance, and real property tax assessment. He also represents corporate and higher education landowners in connection with leasing property to oil and gas companies. His real estate practice includes handling the sale and purchase of real property and representing lending institutions in secured loan transactions.

Mr. Laurita's oil and gas industry experience includes serving as senior vice president of Envirogas Inc., a large, privately held oil and gas exploration and production company that, before it ceased operations, had more than 1,600 wells primarily in the northern Appalachian Basin and was the largest operator in New York. His work at Envirogas included supervising the company's land department; coordinating all drilling operations; handling purchase, sale, and mortgage transactions as well as title work; negotiating resolutions of transactional and other types of disputes; and representing the company before regulatory agencies such as the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the New York State Public Service Commission.

Mr. Laurita received a J.D. from University at Buffalo Law School, State University of New York, and a B.S. from State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a resident of Bemus Point.
