Hodgson Russ Announces New Litigation Practice Area Leader Benjamin M. Zuffranieri, Jr.

September 15, 2010

Hodgson Russ is pleased to announce that Benjamin M. Zuffranieri, Jr. will serve as the practice area leader (PAL) for the law firm’s Litigation Practice Area. This practice area oversees the firm’s Business Litigation; Environment & Energy; Insurance Coverage & Reinsurance; and Torts, Insurance Defense & Products Liability Practices.

Mr. Zuffranieri assumes this position from Robert J. Lane, who has served as PAL for the Litigation Practice Area since 2005, when the firm’s practice area structure was established. The firm has five practice areas, each overseen by a PAL, and they are the primary business units of the firm. The other four practice areas are Business; Employment, Benefits & Immigration; Real Estate & Finance; and Tax.

Gary M. Schober, president and CEO of Hodgson Russ, said, “Our clients and firm will benefit from Ben Zuffranieri’s talents and experience as a leader. In addition to being a topnotch lawyer, he has successfully handled significant management responsibilities over the years, and I look forward to working with him as the newest member of our management team.”

Mr. Schober continued, “Given the important strategic role played by the practice areas in our governance structure, our firm has been extremely fortunate to have had Bob Lane’s leadership as PAL. Also a former Hodgson Russ vice president and practice group leader, his many skills will be missed as he takes a temporary break from firm management and continues to concentrate on his clients.”

Focusing his practice on litigation involving business disputes, construction law, cross-border issues, property damage, and personal injury, including negligence and product liability, Mr. Zuffranieri also chairs the firm’s Business Litigation and Construction Law Practice Groups and is a member of its International/Cross-Border Practice Group.

Mr. Lane practices in the area of commercial and business-related litigation, with a focus on securities and intellectual property litigation. He serves as chair of the firm’s Securities/Directors & Officers Litigation Practice Group. His intellectual property litigation experience includes patent infringement matters involving both utility and design patents, trademark and Lanham Act disputes, and litigation involving trade secrets and the misappropriation of ideas and concepts.
