Amy has over twenty years of experience advising plans, employers, and trustees regarding all aspects of retirement, welfare, and executive compensation compliance matters. She advises private companies, non-profits, political subdivisions, and tribal organizations concerning the formation, design and operation of qualified retirement plans, welfare benefit plans, and executive compensation arrangements. She assists clients with a variety of regulatory compliance and taxation issues, including resolving complex voluntary compliance, prohibited transaction, penalty assessment, and other matters before the IRS and DOL. Amy has substantial experience representing buyers and sellers in transactions, and addressing thorny post-transaction issues related to the integration of benefit plans and employee management.

Amy advises clients regarding the unique employment and employee benefits issues that arise in the government contracting context. In particular, she assists clients in establishing policies and adopting or modifying employee pension and welfare benefit plans to satisfy the special fringe benefit contribution requirements for federal contract workers.

Amy helps clients navigate the increasingly complex federal mandates governing group health plans. She reviews and prepares health plan documents and participant communications, and advises plan sponsors regarding compliance with COBRA, USERRA, HIPAA, the ACA, and other state and federal laws. She is also experienced in addressing privacy and security compliance concerns under HIPAA with respect to self-insured health plans.

Amy also has experience advising clients regarding employee separations, complicated leave issues, and the development of personnel policies.
