Joe counsels lenders, administrative agents, borrowers, investors, and sponsors, including public and private companies, financial institutions, hedge funds, and private equity funds on numerous syndicated and single-lender credit facilities and various types of secured and unsecured, senior, and mezzanine financing transactions. Joe also represents investment funds, independent power producers, utilities, energy marketers, and traders in a wide range of energy derivative transactions and other energy transactions.

Prior to joining Hodgson Russ, Joe served as of counsel in the New York City office of an international law firm, where he handled the following significant matters:

  • Represented an oil and gas services company, as borrower, in a syndicated $375 million senior secured revolving credit facility
  • Represented a nuclear fuel enrichment company in a $2 billion term loan in connection with the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program
  • Represented a wind turbine manufacturer in an investment of an offshore wind farm project
  • Represented a bank, as senior lender, in a three-tier mezzanine financing of a portfolio of real properties
  • Represented an independent power provider, as borrower, in a $500 million acquisition financing of a portfolio of peaking generation facilities
  • Represented an independent power provider, as borrower, in a $1.165 billion acquisition financing of a coal-fired power plant
  • Represented a media company, as debtor-in-possession, in a pre-pack restructuring of $925 million, first lien/second lien credit facilities
  • Represented a bank, as arranger and agent, in a syndicated $100 million senior secured credit facility for a telecommunications company
  • Represented a bank, as arranger and agent, in a syndicated $265 million senior secured credit facility for an oil exploration company
  • Represented a bank, as arranger and agent, in a syndicated $100 million senior secured credit facility for an NBA franchise
  • Represented a financial company, as a second lien lender, in the chapter 11 case of an automobile parts company
