A member of the Hodgson Russ Health Law team, Logan concentrates his practice on representing a variety of health care providers (including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, medical practices, and long term care facilities) in reimbursement, regulatory, and compliance matters. Logan represents providers in Medicare and Medicaid audits and investigations, in addition to providing guidance on the reimbursement implications of affiliations and corporate structures. He has a particular affinity for assisting clients in navigating complex regulatory requirements, such as the Medicare provider-based regulations, and in developing solutions to atypical individualized reimbursement issues, such as matters relating to the Medicaid UPL calculation.
Logan regularly counsels providers on compliance with the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute, and provides advice pertaining to the corporate practice of medicine and other professional practice issues. In addition, he advises clients on various issues relating to new reimbursement and care delivery models, including accountable care organizations (ACOs), the delivery system reform incentive payment (DSRIP) program, patient-centered medical homes, independent practice associations (IPAs), and managed care contracting.
Prior to joining Hodgson Russ, Logan held positions in outpatient services and office management at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York, respectively. While in law school, he participated in the Elder Law Clinic and held legal internships at UB | MD Physicians Group, Erie County Medical Center, and the New York State Attorney General’s Office, including the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
