Trish Sandison presented at the NYCON Camp Finance Conference at Mohonk Mountain House, October 4-5, which is a two-day retreat for nonprofit Executive Directors, Financial Staff, Board Members, Practitioners, Fundraisers, Marketing & Communications Staff, and Development Staff.  In addition to Hodgson Russ being the official sponsor for the conference’s evening reception, Trish Sandison presented to attendees on the topic of legal governance, with a special focus on managing conflicts of interest, including safeguards for Boards to implement, maintaining a Board culture of disclosure, an in-depth look at NYS-required Conflict of Interest Policy and its required contents, compensation matters, comparisons of classic conflicts of interest and conflicts of loyalties that arise in this context, and the importance of public perception considerations in navigating COIs.  The session also highlighted IRS governance initiatives and reporting requirements that impact how conflicts are managed and reported.
