Informal dispute resolution is a process that nursing homes can use to reverse a faulty survey deficiency or reduce its scope and severity. In the right case, IDR can be an effective tool for improving a facility’s quality ratings under the CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System. Drawing from empirical research and first-hand experience, this audio conference will show you what you need to know to prepare the winning IDR. This session will explore traditional and independent IDR and explain when and how to use each available process. It
will provide practical tips on developing, documenting and submitting an effective IDR request. It will also highlight factors that increase the likelihood of success. At the end of this session, participants will understand: when and how to use IDR to challenge survey  deficiencies; strategies for preparing and submitting an effective IDR request; and factors to increase the likelihood that IDR will be  successful in reversing a deficiency or lowering its scope or severity.
