Hodgson Russ is pleased to announce that Open Weaver Banks has joined the firm as a Partner in its State & Local Tax (SALT) practice. Open is based in the firm’s Hackensack, NJ office, where the SALT practice has recently expanded its presence.

Prior to joining Hodgson Russ, Open was counsel with a multistate tax practice located in New York City.  Her extensive experience includes representation of taxpayers in administrative and court appeals in New Jersey, New York and Illinois on a variety of complex issues, including apportionment of business income, combined reporting, constitutional nexus, the Internet Tax Freedom Act, nonresident and resident personal income taxation, sales and use taxation, and the imposition of various industry-specific taxes, including telecommunications, utilities, and amusement taxes. Open is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, where she received her J.D. with honors. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University.

“Open is the perfect fit to represent our ongoing expansion in New Jersey,” said Mark Klein, Hodgson Russ Chairman and Partner in the SALT Practice. “Her intricate knowledge of and experience with New Jersey tax issues, combined with her extensive work on tax issues in New York and Illinois, as well as her experience in navigating complex multistate tax disputes, adds an extra level of depth to our team. She is a great addition to Hodgson Russ, and we look forward to the many contributions she will make as part of our Hackensack office.”
