Hodgson Russ Press Release
March 8, 2023

Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to share that Mohammed A. Alam, an associate and member of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice, has been named as a City & State “2023 Albany Rising Star.”

As a member of the Hodgson Russ Business Litigation Practice, Mohammed assists clients with business disputes covering many areas of law. He focuses his practice on commercial disputes, contract litigation, and litigation involving municipalities in both state and federal court. In addition, Mohammed has experience in hemp and cannabis law as well as handling commercial lease disputes between landlords and tenants, and in drafting appellate briefs. He also counsels clients on election law matters and represents governments, educational institutions, and their officials on a variety of litigation and regulatory matters.

A University at Buffalo School of Law alumnus, Mohammed gained a wide range of experience during his studies. He worked with the General Counsel of Deutsche Bank, the State Counsel Division at the New York State Attorney General’s office, and within the Enforcement Department of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He also served as a student attorney for the Community Justice Clinic, where he focused on immigration cases, and was a Constitutional Law Teaching Fellow at the University at Buffalo.

When he is not working for clients, Mohammed takes great pride in volunteering in his community, including serving as a member of the State Affairs and Government Ethics Committee for the New York City Bar Association. He is also on the Board of Directors for the University at Buffalo School of Law Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Group. Most recently, as part of the Erie County Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, Mohammed serves as a board member for Rising Champions for Justice.

Each year, City & State selects 40 individuals who are under the age of 40, who are rising stars in Albany in government, advocacy, media, business, lobbying, and more. Mohammed and all members of the prestigious list will be featured in a special “Rising Stars” edition of City & State magazine on April 24.
