Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to announce that Paul J. Roman Jr. PhD. has joined the firm as a partner in its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice.

Paul works closely with clients to identify protectable intellectual property and then protect it. He also advises clients on building and managing global portfolios of intellectual property assets. While he counsels clients in all areas of intellectual property including patentability evaluations, patent prosecution, and post-grant challenges, Paul’s specialty is in the chemical arts.

With a Ph.D. in chemistry, Paul is in a unique position to help clients navigate the intersection of complicated intellectual property laws and their application to new developments in the fields of chemistry and life sciences. Prior to law school, he worked as a researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where his work concentrated on polymers and materials for advanced microelectronics applications. He has worked as a chemist/process engineer for an international manufacturer of specialty chemicals and materials. In addition, Paul has U.S. patents on eight of his own inventions.

At Hodgson Russ, Paul’s areas of focus include the patenting and license enforcement of inorganic materials, nanomaterials, inorganic/organic polymers, organometallic/coordination compounds, catalysts, biomaterials, biosensing technologies, pharmaceuticals, chemical processes, analytical methods, and food chemistry.
