Law Prof’s Long Fight Against NY Taxes Continues
A New York law professor has been fighting to reduce remote workers’ New York taxes since before “remote worker” was a thing. He has yet to win—but he’ll keep trying.
Edward Zelinsky, a Cardozo Law School professor, encountered his latest setback in a May 15 decision from a state tax tribunal, which found New York was right to tax wages he earned while working from his Connecticut home, even when pandemic restrictions barred him from the Manhattan campus.
Hodgson Russ Partner Timothy Noonan was quoted in the article as he weighed in on the circumstances surrounding Zelinsky’s remote work, and his chances at a successful appeal.
