Hodgson Russ LLP Expands Award-Winning Banking & Finance Practice, Welcomes Two Accomplished Partners
Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to welcome Danijel Augustinovic and Nicholas Gatto as partners in the firm’s Banking & Finance Practice, each known for their strong track records in commercial finance. Their arrivals enhance the firm’s ability to deliver practical, forward-looking solutions to clients by navigating sophisticated financial deals and evolving market conditions.
Augustinovic joins Hodgson Russ after practicing at leading Canadian law firms, where he built a reputation for advising on high-stakes lending and debt restructuring transactions across borders. His experience counseling Canadian lenders and borrowers on U.S. legal requirements positions him to deliver seamless, targeted guidance to clients engaged in North American financing deals. Augustinovic’s practice spans syndicated and asset-based lending, acquisition finance, subordinated and second lien structures, receivables financing, and debt restructurings. His international experience adds a valuable dimension to the firm’s Banking & Finance Practice, particularly for clients navigating the intricacies of U.S.-Canada transactions.
“My practice has always focused on helping clients navigate the legal nuances of cross-border finance,” Augustinovic said. “At Hodgson Russ, I see an opportunity to expand that work within a team that values precision, collaboration, and client-focused strategy. I’m excited to contribute to a practice that’s already known for its strength in intricate financial transactions.”
Additionally, Gatto joins Hodgson Russ with a distinguished background in corporate finance and restructuring, including roles at a top 50 Am Law firm and the nation’s largest corporate Chapter 11 practice. His arrival strengthens the firm’s Banking & Finance Practice with seasoned insight into challenging transactions and distressed scenarios. Gatto advises clients on a wide range of financing structures, including syndicated loans, private placements, debtor-in-possession financing, and specialized areas such as aircraft finance and international development. He also represents creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, guiding clients through claims resolution, asset acquisitions, and Chapter 11 negotiations. With experience across industries and jurisdictions, Gatto delivers practical, results-driven advice to clients facing high-stakes financial decisions.
“What impressed me most about Hodgson Russ is how seamlessly the firm blends deep legal knowledge with real-world business perspective,” said Gatto. “Clients today need more than technical answers. They need advisors who understand the stakes and can guide them through uncertainty. That’s the kind of work I’m eager to do here.”
“Dani and Nick each bring a unique set of skills and perspectives that align perfectly with our practice’s strategic direction,” said Christofer Fattey, leader of the Banking & Finance Practice. “Their arrival strengthens our ability to serve clients with agility and command, especially as financial markets grow more complex and interconnected.”
