Firm Sponsors Canadian Club of Toronto Luncheon, Rings TSX Opening Bell

December 2, 2009

Hodgson Russ is pleased to sponsor a luncheon presented by the Canadian Club of Toronto, December 7, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel Ballroom in Toronto. The event’s keynote speaker will be Thomas Kloet, CEO of the TMX Group. His presentation, “Winning Conditions: Canada's Global Opportunity,” will consider how the Canadian economy’s strong foundations – from financial services to natural resources – provide a unique opportunity to capture a true leadership position in the global economy.

George J. Eydt, of the firm’s Toronto office (member of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group), have been invited to sit at the head table. The event will be broadcast by Rogers Communications. In addition to attending the luncheon, as part of the firm’s sponsorship, members of Hodgson Russ will be present to open the Toronto Stock Exchange that morning. The market-opening ceremony will include remarks from TMX and Canadian Club executives.

The Canadian Club of Toronto is a forum to hear trailblazers in politics, business, social development, and the media over lunch. Formed in 1892, long before instantaneous news coverage, prime ministers used the club as a way to reach out to Canadians, particularly in times of crises like the outbreak of war. Today, the Canadian Club offers newsmakers the opportunity to speak in depth about key issues to a varied audience of several hundred.

The TMX Group operates the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange, Natural Gas Exchange, and other financial markets and subsidiaries. Hodgson Russ is pleased to support the Toronto Stock Exchange/TSX Venture Exchange TMX 2009 U.S. Campaign.
