Hodgson Russ Announces 2019 Summer Associates

Hodgson Russ LLP is pleased to announce Mohammed Alam, Evan Anderson, Josh Gmerek, Eliza Kaye, Samuel Kielar, Heather Kimmins, Brandon Lê, Rosellen Marohn, Fallon Martin and Charlie Wowk have been selected to join our Firm as the 2019 Summer Associates in our Buffalo Office.

Alam is a 2014 graduate of the Colin Powell School at The City College of New York with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government. He is expected to receive his J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2020. Alam previously worked in the legal department for the General Counsel of Deutsche Bank and as an External Affairs Manager for the Center for Court Innovation, a criminal justice reform nonprofit organization.

Anderson is a 2014 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and is expected to receive his J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2020. Since graduation, he has worked in various sales and marketing roles at NRG Business in Cheektowaga and The Summit Center in Getzville. Last summer, he worked for Archer Daniels Midland.

Gmerek is a 2017 graduate of Niagara University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. He is expected to receive his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2020. Last summer, he worked at the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and as a Research Assistant for his civil procedure professor.

Kaye is a 2016 graduate of the University at Pittsburgh. She is expected to receive her J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 2020. After graduation, she worked as a substitute teacher and field hockey and basketball coach. Last summer, she worked for the Juvenile Public Defender’s Office in Pittsburgh.

Kielar is a 2015 graduate of the University at Buffalo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is expected to receive his J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2020. He first joined the Firm as a patent engineer in 2015. Since being registered to practice with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2016, he has been part of the Firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Group as a patent agent.

Kimmins is a 2012 graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor’s Degree and is expected to receive her J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2020. After graduation, she moved to Mount Laurel, New Jersey where she worked as a Project Manager for NFL Films. After her first year of law school, she worked as a summer judicial clerk for the Honorable Lawrence J. Vilardo. Kimmins will travel to southern Texas in January as part of the University at Buffalo U.S.-Mexico Border Clinic to represent asylum-seekers in their initial interviews with asylum officers, bond hearings, and asylum trials in immigration court.

Lê is a 2016 graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor’s Degree, having studied economics and philosophy. He is expected to receive his J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2020. He has worked with Citigroup in equities operations and interned at the Third Circuit Court of Appeals with the Honorable Julio M. Fuentes.

Marohn is a 2009 graduate of the University of Rochester and is expected to receive her J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2020. She served in the Peace Corps for two years in El Salvador and worked in procurement and contract administration at Calspan Holdings. She has also previously worked as a law clerk for New Era Cap Co., Inc. and traveled to southern Texas as part of the University at Buffalo U.S.-Mexico Border Clinic to represent asylum-seekers in their initial interviews with asylum officers, bond hearings, and asylum trials in immigration court.

Martin is a 2015 graduate of the University at Buffalo and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance. She is expected to receive her J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School in 2020. She lived in Los Angeles after graduation, doing freelance marketing and social media strategy in addition to performing in a dance company and as a backup dancer for Demi Lovato. Last summer, she was a law clerk at Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria.

Wowk is a 2018 graduate of York University, Glendon Campus, with a bilingual Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Certificate in Law & Social Thought. He is expected to receive his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law in 2021.
