The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services finalized changes to the Cap H-1B lottery process to take effect before the FY 2025 H-1B cap season. These changes come as an effort to ensure fairness in the selection process by allowing only one entry per beneficiary. The important changes include the following:

  • Beneficiaries are only entered into the lottery once based on their passport or travel document information.
  • Beneficiaries are still allowed to have multiple registrations filed on their behalf. In other words, each beneficiary’s chances of selection will be the same, but if the beneficiary is selected, any of the potential employers that submitted a registration may submit an H-1B petition on their behalf.

USCIS announced that the FY 2025 H-1B cap registration period will run from March 6, at 12:00 p.m. ET to March 22, at 12:00 p.m. ET.
