Special Education Update on Recent State and Federal Guidance Concerning the COVID-19 Outbreak

Join our special education attorneys in a discussion regarding the new COVID-19 guidance document issued by the State Education Department’s Office of Special Education. We’ll discuss the legal and practical implications of the new guidance document, including:

  • Evaluations, reevaluations and annual reviews;
  • Remote provision of services;
  • Communications and collaborations with other districts, nonpublic school placements and BOCES programs during school closure;
  • Maintaining documentation related to continuity of learning;
  • U.S. Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ letter and recommendations to Congress relative to IDEA requirements and its potential impact upon local school districts.
