
John assists attorneys representing clients in a wide range of state and local tax matters, including audits, tax planning, residency and day count issues, workday allocation matters, business income allocation, and pass-through entity tax issues. He supports clients by conducting legal and tax research, preparing and reviewing documents, and performing complex tax-related analyses and computations.
Before joining Hodgson Russ, John spent more than 11 years with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance as an Auditor in the Income/Franchise Field Audit Bureau. In that role, he focused on matters involving residency, tax credits, trusts, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations, including both resident and nonresident tax issues and entity-level examinations. His extensive government experience provides valuable insight into tax authority audit practices and procedures.
