The Hodgson Russ litigation team is comprised of more than 80 lawyers with deep experience in all aspects of business and commercial litigation. In many cases, it is in a client’s best interest to pursue Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) rather than litigating a matter in court.

Our ADR team is a select group of our commercial and business attorneys with extensive trial, arbitration, and mediation training and experience as well as strong subject matter knowledge.

Each member of the ADR team assists as a third-party neutral, a selected arbitration panel member, a mediator, or as a facilitator of settlement discussions, whether directed by a court, mandated by an agreement, or by agreement of the parties.

The practice has wide flexibility in how it charges for its services and looks forward to partnering with the litigants and counsel to ensure the process reflects the interests of the parties in resolving disputes without expensive and time-consuming litigation.

Experience

In his nearly 40 years of practice, Hugh Russ has represented clients in countless mediation and arbitration proceedings. A substantial portion of his practice now involves acting as the neutral—he has served as the mediator in settling hundreds of cases in state and federal courts, and he has acted as the arbitrator in deciding dozens of private arbitrations. Mr. Russ has handled everything from high dollar personal injury and wrongful death litigation, to complicated environmental and real estate development matters, to complex commercial cases, both as an assigned and as a mutually selected neutral.
