Hodgson Russ attorney Terrence M. Gilbride (was a featured speaker at the 2011 National Association of College and University Attorneys’ annual conference in San Francisco, California. The four-day program featured various panel discussions, presentations, forums, and interactive sessions on a wide variety of issues facing higher education attorneys, including business and real property law, computer resources, diversity and civil rights, international law, labor and employment law, litigation, risk management and compliance, research and intellectual property issues, professional development, and student affairs and athletics. Approximately 1,100 attorneys attended, mostly in-house counsel, representing most major public and private higher education institutions in the country.

Terry participated in a three-person panel discussion focused on the various creative ways colleges and universities are utilizing public-private partnerships to develop capital projects, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of pursuing projects through P3 arrangements.

Terry presented the audience with four brief case studies from four pioneering projects developed by Hodgson Russ for various institutions within the SUNY system, illustrating the issues and concerns involved when using P3 partnerships for on- and off-campus project development.
