November 29
November 29, 2017

This program will address issues that arise when businesses conduct activities in multiple jurisdictions. Though these situations typically begin with a simple sale through a website, they frequently grow to incorporate stronger connections with jurisdictions outside the seller’s home state. We will review the various income tax, sales and use tax and employment tax issues that arise when conducting business in multiple states.

Brought to you by the Committee.

  • An analysis of Amazon legislation and state attempts to broaden their tax bases.
  • An examination of Public Law 86-272 and its limitations.
  • A discussion of employee withholding rules and the proposed federal legislation designed to ease some of the compliance burden.
  • A review of telecommuting rules and the pitfalls created by allowing employees to work remotely.
