Chris Fattey leads Hodgson Russ’s Banking & Finance and Financial Services Practices. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience, he advises borrowers and credit providers on complex debt transactions and counsels business clients on financing strategy and corporate structure. Strategic, practical, and solution-oriented, Chris guides clients through every stage of the transaction process.
Chris advises banks, agents, and private lenders on senior secured and unsecured corporate credit facilities, syndicated loans, acquisition financings, asset-based lending, mezzanine credits, bridge facilities, and factoring and receivables transactions. He also represents credit providers in construction and mortgage financings across the hospitality, affordable housing, healthcare, multifamily, mixed-use, and renewable energy sectors.
On the borrower side, Chris advises public companies, private equity sponsors, small and mid-cap businesses, health care systems, hospitality groups, non-profits, and real estate developers on matters ranging from hospital construction loans and utility-scale renewable energy projects to ABL credit facilities and subscription lines. He also provides strategic guidance on a range of issues, helping clients balance legal risk with business priorities.
As a key member of the firm’s Canada-U.S. Cross-Border practice, Chris advises clients on cross-border financing matters of all sizes. He works with borrowers, sponsors, federally chartered Canadian banks, domestic Canadian banks, and private Canadian lenders to help them navigate unique cross-border issues.
A long-standing member of the firm’s opinion committee, Chris serves as New York opinion counsel for major national and international firms in domestic and cross-border transactions.
Chris exclusively practices U.S. law and is admitted to practice in New York.
